Rakhine State

Rakhine state is situated on the western coast of Myanmar, bordered by Chin State in the north, Magway Region, Bago Region and Ayeyarwady Region in the east, the Bay of Bengal to the west, and the Chittagong Division of Bangladeshto the northwest. The capital city is Sittwe. The famous Ngapali beach with its clean blue sea waters and unspoilt beach,  Mrauk U, the ancient city of the Rakhine Dynasty are the main tourist attractions in Rakhine state.

 

Sittway – The capital of Rakhine state( formerly known as Arakan bordering Bangaladesh & India) and also known as Akyab is also  a major historic port town on the Bay of Bengal.It isalso the entrance city to the archaeological site of Mrauk U. The view point at Sittwe beach, the central fish market and historic temples are highlights to see in Sittwe.

 Mrauk U – An ancient capital known as Mrohaung, founded in 15 century is well  known for historic temples with wall paintings,   Walls and Moats at the palace site. The only access by Boat trip between Mrauk-U from Sittway with a very pleasant riverine trip (5 hours) on Kaladan river.  Another highlight is visit to ethnic minority tribe villages ( Chin Tattooed women).

Ngapali Beach - An Idyllic beautiful resort beach stretches on the Bay of Bengal and it lies in Rakhine State of Myanmar.Ngapali is accessible by flight which takes about 45 minutes from Yangon, by car about 14 hours drive along the Rakhine Yoma mountain range.The best time to visit is during October to May. Ngapali is prime choice for beach lovers dream about.
